Eyes care Tips for Computer Users

Our eyes are the most precious organ in our body. We have delicate eyes. Our eyes are the lens to the outer world. What we see help us in our daily chores. Without eyes we will be handicapped. So treat your eyes with utmost care.

I have seen young adults working in front of a computer complaining about strain eyes, blurry vision, tearing and dizziness and headaches.

Here are some tips (that I have been practicing) for relaxing and refreshing your eyes while working in front of your computer.

1. Rest after 30 minutes in front of your computer. Relax and close your eyes for 30 seconds. Then focus on a green object 30 feet away for 30 seconds. Then Refocus an object in front for 30 seconds. Do at least 3 cycles.

2. Distance yourself from the screen – stretch your hand. You should not be able to touch the screen with your middle finger tip while sitting in front of your computer. If you touch or anything nearer is not advisable. If the texts are too small, try increasing the font size (For IE – click View-Text Size-Large View)

3. Glare can strain your eyes. Avoid reflection on your screen from other light source – your room light or window. Try adjusting the inclination of your screen or repositioning your computer screen to minimize the glare and reflection.

4. When referring documents, try to read the documents on same level as your computer screen. This will reduce eyes strain and fatigue.

5. Eat food rich in carotene. Regularly taking food with good eyes replenishing carotene will help your eyes. A good source of carotene is Wolfberries. I have been taking it for years. The carotenoids give carrots their orange color. You can find carotene in many red, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables.

Follow the tips and your eyes should improve.
